A/C Compressors

Are all A/C compressors created equal or earn the same per pound.
The company I work for recently had a bad case of roof robbers that gutted the coils and everything outside 6 10 ton units.
I have been given permision to salvage what I want from the units as they replace them. Unfortunatly I did not find out till this morning and all I had was a cresent wrenc, vice grips and a philips head in the truck so as they lowered the first 2 units down I broke off what copper I could and grabbed the compressors and all wire I could get at in the 1/2 hour I had befor the a/c guys loaded them up. The last time I cashed in a compressor it was a realy old window unit and it fetched .55/lb and was wondering if these would be the same.
Sucks I did not know sooner or would have tried to barrow a trailor and brought a saws all and other wrenches as the theives did not take the air handler coils which are also part of the outside unit.
Oh Well, 2 units down 4 to go.+ 2 old units that did not work (not stripped) but are being replaced in a few days, These will go onto a flat bed if I can find one or at least 1 into the bed of the toyota.

Some places buy the ac compressors as "sealed units", which pay somewhere between shred steel and motor price. I will only take them apart if I have nothing better to do.

.24#
Crew showed up a day early so no trailer and unit would not fit in truck :x Had trailor that would have held 4 units lined up for next day but riggers were there and they had a job to do. By the time I got off the A/C crew had finished and that was lft were a couple frames and motors.

Oh well, Ended up with about 300# of compresors, 40# of tube and 50-60# of mixed wire

Yes they weigh them oil and all. I had the oil in the back of my truck in a big jug to take to the city hazmat and they handed me a funnel and said but it back in the units. Did mot think to ask why just greatful they saved me the 10 mile trip
Took them down this morning 327# @ .25
Wire I did not feel like striping 20# including some holiday lights $1.05#
motors 130# @ .30

I hoard the good, stuff striping it down till October to fund deer season which for us here in Florida lasts right at 100 days so it pays my gas for a few weekends. That is unless I get in a bind then I ferrit out just enough of what the lower paying scrap does not meet to make what I need at the time.
