so heres the deal ive got like 15 xbox 360 consoles 4 older fat type ps3 models and even some older nes snes and sega. working parts? HA! big daddy already took every single last working piece out. my question is as far as the motherboards go how much can i get by scrapping them as high grade board on the XBOX AND PS3. what would you do to tear these down as far as breaking and seperatinng metals from the board. i have a friend that can melt things down should i sell the boards as is or melt them down for whatever precious metals may be in there thanks in advance.

p.s. thought i would mention i can buy the broken xbox motherboards for really cheap if i want to.

I don't have any experience with melting things down. From what I understand to recover gold and silver from boards is not a melting process with heat but with chemicals. Not sure if that's what your friend does? You can always take the boards out and remove the heat sinks, copper, and wiring and sell the board online. Others here have much more experience with that than I do.

It's not just throwing a couple chemicals in a vat, it's a reverse electroplating process after you've soaked your materials in caustic and dangerous chemicals.

yes im aware there more to the process but i didnt feel the need to write it down. anyone got any ideas as to what classification of board an xbox 360 or ps3 mother board is in?

I would say they are small socket motherboards, but sending them a pic would be a good idea

I found that EasyRecycle paid better on many of the boards
The PS2, sega and NEC boards I have been mixing with the mid-grade boards.
I have only a couple xBox and that was before boardsort reclassified its mother board mix. they have a higher gold content due to the solid contact line that runs the outside egde and they went as motherboard but things have changed a bit since then so send each a picture for pricing.

cool i have a ton of sega and nes systems that are scrap. by the way f.y.i what did they give you for the boards (sega nes or ps2 what ever you have experience with) if you dont mind me asking?
